Leach Congratulates Landrieu, Saints
LDP Chair welcomes a new day in New Orleans
(Baton Rouge) In
response to overwhelming victories by
Mayor-Elect Mitch Landrieu and the New Orleans
Saints this weekend, Louisiana Democratic Party
Chair Buddy Leach issued the following
statement:
"I congratulate Mitch Landrieu on his decisive win and the people of New Orleans for coming together to speak with one voice about the future of the Crescent City. Other Democratic candidates contributed to a healthy and honest debate that made us proud. Mitch Landrieu has quite a challenge ahead of him, but by all indications he will also have a unified city behind him.
"Mitch Landrieu, along with the Saints players, coaches and management, gives New Orleanians a common bond, something to be proud of and the building blocks for a healthy, safe and sustainable New Orleans.
"A weekend in which New Orleanians came together like never before has given way to the dawn of a new day in New Orleans. With Mayor Landrieu's leadership and a reinvigorated sense of unity, New Orleans may just have turned its luck around for good.
